PSL8; Javed Afridi decided to hold a silent protest

KARACHI: Unhappy with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) authorities regarding the hosting of international cricket in Peshawar, Peshawar Zalmi's Onar Javed Afridi has decided to hold a silent protest.

Sources say that Peshawar Zalmi's Onar Javed Afridi will not participate in the draft scheduled in Karachi for the eighth season of Pakistan Super League (PSL), although the franchise will be represented by Director of Cricket Muhammad Akram.

Speaking to the media recently, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ramiz Raja and CEO Faisal Hasnain indicated that foreign cricketers are not satisfied with the security situation in the city and province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and do not want to play there. There has been a strong reaction in Peshawar and the provincial opposition parties also condemned Ramiz Raja's statement.

Earlier it was decided to hand over the Hayatabad Cricket Stadium in Peshawar to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Pakistan Cricket Board Faisal Hasnain said during the press conference on this occasion. That foreign players cannot go to play in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan due to travel guidelines, while most players avoid playing in these places.

For the first time, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is organizing the PSL Drafting in Karachi.

It should be noted that the eighth edition of PSL will be played from February 9 to March 19 in Lahore, Multan, Karachi and Rawalpindi.
